Self Tanning Experiment

It's been awhile since I have self tanned myself and last night I did it. 

My earlier attempts haven't been successful at all. Few years back I used self tanning gel and it was a splotchy mess, just horrible.

But this time I did everything by the book.

 I used a moisturizing body scrub, tanning applicator or tanning mitten and the self tanning product.

The scrub what I used was Erboristica, Velvety body Scrub

It has crushed apricot pits, olive oil and panthenol. It removes dead skin and makes your skin so so soft. Not oily, but soft. I scrubbed my knees, elbows and ankles with extra care so the tan wont stuck on the dry skin.

The tanner what I used was St. Moriz, Instant self tanning lotion

It says "A professional flawless tan for a golden sunkissed glow" and "Instant bronzing, no streaks, longer lasting, moisturizing" It has a mild perfumed smell, not bad at all. Nice and smooth texture, don't be afraid of the color. 

 

 

My mitten has a fuzzy side and a thin black side. These kind of tanning applicators are placed usually next or nearby the self tanning products.

The tanning process:

When I started to use the lotion and saw what color it was the first thing that popped in my head was "Oh sh---t..."

The lotion was almost black with a greenish tint. 

Well I gave it a go and I spread it all over my body. 

(Ask your friend, boyfriend, mom, sister or who ever to help you with your back)

I am a very very pale person and only my back, shoulders and arms, sometimes my stomach tans when I spend hours and hours under the sun. But still my legs stays white. 

After smearing it on, it looked very dark and again I started to doubt the whole thing. After little panicking I took normal body lotion and rubbed it gently on the places where the tanning lotion had piled up and blended the color out. 

Then I let it dry for a while and I got dressed in dark clothes.

It started to develop the self tanner smell after 30 min. I would say that the smell is pretty average. Not strong but you can smell it. The smell will stick to you clothes and bed sheets.

Then I went to sleep.

In the morning I went and checked the color on natural light. I was very pleased. Very sun kissed, golden bronze. I took a shower to rinse off the smell and excess product.

 

After shower the color was much smoother and the smell was gone. 

I think that the color is very natural and it's easy to go darker.

I didn't apply the product on my face or back of my hands.

On my face I was thinking to use this product

It is a Louis Widmer Selftan for face and body

It's a clear/white lotion with a gradual tan.

Hello!

Here are this months Livbox goodies. 

Seems like it's all about scents in this months box.

First, my favorite product in the box:

Clarins, Beauty Flash Balm

Sample size 15ml/0.53oz

It makes your skin brighter, tighter also makes your skin looking less tired. You should apply it on clean skin, without rubbing it in and apply your make-up immediately.

My thoughts: I really like this beauty balm and it really makes my skin look more brighter, not sure about the tighter part. The balm feels nice and absorbs quickly. To someone the smell might be too strong, but to me it is ok. I will buy a new one when I have money to splurge.

My advise is if you're sensitive to strong scents you should go to the beauty store and smell it before buying it.

 Max Factor, Wild Shadow Pots

15 Vicious Purple

Full pigmented and trendy colors, gives a nice pop of color on your eyelids. For more intensive color use a wet/damp brush.

My Thoughts: Ummh... I hoped that this product would be all those things what the product card said. It really isn't. Color is ok, but it's very shimmery almost full off glitter and where is the pigment? Not in this pot. I'm still gonna try to use it and I hope the other colors are more vibrant. I'm might buy this in other colors.

DR. Bronner's Magic Soaps

All-One Hemp Tea Tree Pure-castile soap made with organic oils

Sample size 28g/1oz

 Contains coconut-, olive-, hemp- and jojoba oils, tea tree extract and vitamin E. Contains also fair trade ingredients. 100% vegan soap. You can use this soap on everything. 

You can wash your: face, body, hands, hair, clothes and dishes with it. Tea tree extract should help with acne and psoriasis.

My thoughts: The soap feels really creamy and nice. After washing my hands with it they felt really soft, clean and moisturized. You can smell especially the hemp oil and tea tree extract quite strongly.

Might buy this in different scent.

 Boss Jour Pour Femme, Eau de Parfum

Sample size

This is a light, elegant and feminine new perfume which continues Boss-fragrances classy style. Scents of Lime accord, honeysuckle, freesia and white birch. 

My thoughts: Nice warm scented perfume. I might use this sometimes, but I think this might be a scent for a 30+  women.

Not gonna buy the full size.

 Boss Jour Pour Femme, perfumed bodylotion 

Sample size 50ml/1.6fl. oz

Same scent as the perfume. 

Moisturizing bodylotion which should enhance the scent of the perfume.

My thoughts: Oh fudge! This is something I can't or don't want to use at least on my arms or near my face. Just no. Extremely strong scent, but makes my skin soft and moisturized can't argue with that.

Not gonna buy the full size.

 Louis Widmer, cleansing milk

 Sample size 25ml/0.85oz

Cleansing milk for every skin type, cleanses thoroughly. Leaving your skin feeling moisturized, fresh and calm.

My thoughts: Removes my make-up and leaves my skin feeling nice and soft, non-greasy. Scent is mild (thank you) I think this is just a basic and 'does what it's supposed to do' -product.

Might buy this someday.

This months Livbox was a smelly box.

Most of the products were heavily scented and I'm not such a big fan of that.

Some of the goodies were nice and I'm gonna use them to the last drop.
